Why does “Contributor” sometimes appear as a link and sometimes as plain text?

If you’ve noticed that the word Contributor looks different across your sites list, here’s what it means:

Contributor (clickable in blue)

This means the site currently has no verified owner. You (or another contributor) still have the chance to verify ownership. Clicking the link will take you through the process of becoming the verified owner.

Contributor (plain text, not clickable)

This means ownership of the site has already been verified by someone else. Since each site can only have one owner, the option to verify is no longer available, so the word appears as plain text.
